METAPHOR DESIGN began as a project management enterprise for the higher education community in 1996. The first projects were for various academic and student service departments of a local university. The business then expanded to include small business owners and members of the community who did not have enough resources to purchase or create a professionally designed and integrated web presence.

Metaphor Design was started to aid these small businesses and non-profit organizations to be able to have a functionally complete and professional web presence with affordable pricing. The Hard Copy and Business Services departments of Metaphor Design were added as a further convenience and support to these businesses.
